Get off the couch, get in a car or on a bus or bike, and travel to a more purple community than your own for a short visit or holiday. Once there, head to a diner, caf\u00e9, ice cream shop, or shopping center and take in life there. Odds are it will be much like your own. No need to talk politics. Just spend time in the community. If you can&#8217;t travel today, make a plan to do so. Put it in your calendar to ensure that you stick to the plan.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/republicans-democrats-cities\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Mixed Political Places<\/a><h4>The Science Behind It<\/h4>If you are like most Americans, today you live in an area where most people share your political views. This is a trend across America, including in large cities.
